• Identify and track railcar assets. Ensures that the righ cars are being loaded with the correct materials and detects the cars locations. 
• Passive or active RFID tags fixed to railcars
• Every car is being fitted with two tags, one each side, so that an interrogator can read a car's tag regardless of the direction of travel. Each tag is encoded with a unique ID number. 
• Read points at loading, arrival and unloading.
